Natalia Rich-Wimmer, PhD, Licensed Pediatric Neuropsychologist

Overview Neuropsychological assessments for bilingual individuals require a nuanced understanding of acculturation, language acquisition, and brain structure. This presentation explores how linguistic and cultural factors significantly impact the accuracy of neuropsychological findings, often leading to the misinterpretation of cognitive data in diverse populations.

Dr. Natalia Rich-Wimmer is a licensed pediatric clinical neuropsychologist specializing in bilingual (English/Spanish) and culturally informed neuropsychological assessments. Originally from Venezuela, Dr. Rich-Wimmer completed five years of specialized training in clinical neuropsychology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where she was formally certified as a Spanish-speaking provider during her internship and postdoctoral residency. Currently, she operates a community-based private practice in Oregon, conducting comprehensive developmental and neuropsychological evaluations. Her clinical specialties include autism, general neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic brain injury (TBI), epilepsy, and pediatric hematology/oncology. Prior to her doctoral training, Dr. Rich-Wimmer served as a bilingual service coordinator and later as the Diversity and Inclusion Specialist for Developmental Disability Services at the Far Northern Regional Center in Northern California. Her clinical and research endeavors focus on culturally and linguistically competent neuropsychological assessments for bilingual, diverse, and vulnerable populations.
