Frankie Hupy, Public Defender of Marion County, Salem
This webinar will consider changes to Chapter 426 that the new HB 2005 has wrought. Moderated by Mae Lee Browning, OCDLA Legislative Director. This program will be recorded and made available to OCDLA members.
Frankie Hupy:
Frankie grew up back east and got their Bachelors from Brandeis University outside of Boston and their JD from Albany Law School in New York before moving out west to start their legal career. Frankie has practiced indigent defense in both private practice and public defense offices, focusing initially on dependency and then on treatment courts. Frankie took a brief hiatus from practice to write programs for OJD in Polk County. Since then, Frankie has returned to public defense and is now working in the Trial Unit of the Public Defender of Marion County as the Training Lead and Mental Health Co-Lead, where they handle major felony cases, civil commitments, and the Rapid docket for fitness to proceed. Around the office, you will likely also see an eight-pound shadow following Frankie in the shape of their chihuahua, Themis.
