“Dear Attorneys: What Seasoned Psychologists Want You to Know” is a unique, tailored webinar experience crafted by these seasoned psychologists with a combined 180 years experience in the field. They have put together this series out of concerns for what they have been observing: an ongoing misuse of psychological testing in forensic settings, coupled with a dearth of litigation skills on how to address it. They are convening this series to provide attorneys and other members of the defense team just such information, background and strategies for a better defense of your clients.

Presenter:
Patricia Warford, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist in private practice. She began working with victims of abuse in 1992 as a graduate student. She worked with sexually abuse children in 1993 as a master’s level therapist. She completed her doctoral dissertation on female victims of domestic violence in 1996. She was licensed as a psychologist in 1998 and began court work the same year. Her first court testimony consisted of explaining trauma bonding to a jury as to why a female victim of domestic would recant abuse. She began working with court mandated men in batterer intervention groups (BIP) in 2003. She facilitated BIP groups for 15 years. She did clinical work until 2019, when she switched to solely forensic work. Dr. Warford has been qualified in state and federal court as an expert, especially as related to domestic violence related issues. She has completed over 700 forensic evaluations, including over four dozen murder cases. She has completed hundreds of assessments on men court-mandated to domestic violence classes. Dr. Warford testified before the Senate Judiciary in 2018 advocating for science-based intervention for domestic violence, which was incorporated in SB1543. She taught intro to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Basics to Counseling at Oregon Technical Institute in Wilsonville, OR. Dr. Warford has been certified by the State of Oregon as a Certified Forensic Evaluator since 2012 (when the certification began.)
