Is it ethical to perform moving surveillance on a witness if you have little or no experience doing it? This workshop will shed light on these and many other ethical dilemmas inherent to your work as a criminal defense investigator. Participants will receive one continuing education (CE) unit in ethics. In addition to a certificate of completion, OCDLA and Fat Pencil will sponsor a door prize drawing after the workshop.Your Hosts:James Comstock, Insight Legal InvestigationsSteve Wilson, Portland InvestigatorsJoshua Cohen, Fat Pencil StudioJazzy Winston, Fat Pencil StudioThe ethics program was developed by veteran investigators James Comstock and Steve Wilson. The virtual venue is designed by Fat Pencil Studio, using the gather.town platform. Gather is a video-calling space that lets multiple people hold separate conversations in parallel, walking in and out of those conversations just as easily as they would in real life. It’s like Zoom meets an old-school 2d video game. This may sound weird, but it actually works really well… so long as you use a laptop or desktop computer. Mobile devices such as a phone or tablet won’t work. This may be a different setup than you normally use for video meetings, but we guarantee the extra effort will be worthwhile.Enrollment is limited. Register now to reserve your space! We’ll send further instructions and also host a technology check-in for anyone who is using Gather for the first time. Just remember, this is not a passive learning experience. It will require on-camera participation in thought provoking discussions.
Register through Eventbrite, see the link on the overview page.
