Please join the OCDLA Board of Directors in honoring Susan Elizabeth Reese, OCDLA "Beautiful Words" and "Reese's Pieces" columnist with the Ken Morrow Lifetime Achievement Award.
Speaking in tribute to Susan will be her good friends Marcia Buckley, Cynthia Hamilton and Kevin McGovern.
Susan is the 17th recipient of the Ken Morrow Lifetime Achievement Award, which dates back to 2001. The award was created by OCDLA following the passing of renowned Eugene attorney Ken Morrow to recognize the lifelong commitment and significant achievements of attorneys who have worked in the defense community, and those who have made important contributions to the administration of justice. The Mooney, a low-wing airplane with retractable landing gear, is an original design from the 1950s still being manufactured today. Widely regarded as one of the safest, speediest and efficient single-engine airplanes, it zips along at about 200 miles per hour! Your pilot – Ethan Levi – has been flying since he was 15 years old. He became a licensed private pilot in 1996, has close to 1000 hours of total flight time and he’s instrument-rated. Ethan flies for pleasure, work, and charitable missions with Angel Flight West flying rural patients to and from medical appointments in cities. Soufflé (from the French word, “souffle,” meaning “to breathe” or “to puff” but inspired by Julia Child who said it means a "breath of air") is a gorgeous Cal 34 sailboat owned by OCDLA's own Phil Lewis. Phil races her from Astoria to Victoria (yes, Victoria, Canada) but for you he has in mind a leisurely four-hour tour up the Columbia River into the Gorge, with swimming, cocktails and a barbeque, and a two-hour trip back. Return sail at night can be particularly magical and something your skipper is experienced in at all hours and in most weather conditions. He's also navigated the infamous Columbia Bar numerous times. Soufflé is equipped for comfort and safety and can take up to six guests plus the skipper and crew. All in all, expect about a 10-hour tour. Dates to be determined based on weather. This package is generously donated by Philip A. Lewis, Portland.
